Ongoing fantasy RPG project made in Unity, set to release on Steam for playtesting and early access in late 2025.

I initially started desiging Sapia as a Tabletop RPG 4 years ago, before pivoting to start development in Unity in July 2024. The project is heavily inspired by D&D and action-RPGs such as Diablo and XCOM, with emphasis on strategic turn-based combat and meaningful character customisation.

The development team currently consists of Luka (me) as game designer, programmer, and overall project lead, Andy as lead programmer, and Cleary as composer and sound designer, with a few others who have contributed some narrative elements and art.

As the project is broad in scope with a small team and strict deadline, we have had to very carefully structure our development time and prioritise achieving the intended experience. All features and assets are tracked in Google Sheets with text data such as dialogue and abilities being imported from sheets to .yaml files for use in Unity.

By September 2025, we hope to have curated roughly 2 hours of compelling gameplay consisting of dramatic battles against mystical creatures, engaging branching conversations, a charming yet haunting glacial setting, and a rich RPG framework that allows for creative expression and fun synergies.
